Any harm in "Just" putting my Mac to sleep?
I have an old Pismo G3 and apart from rebooting every couple of weeks just to "clean it up" I never turn it off, just suspend the activity. Its connected to an Ext HD for iPhoto and iTunes library, and the battery died years ago so its always connected to the mains... so not really a "portable" any more. Which is better for an old worn out Mac. Turning it off every night or just putting it on standby. Please no 'funny' comments from die-hard PC users....thanks.
if you mean which is better for system stability, it doesn't make much difference, off or standby each have their own quirks, just stick with whatever you've been using if that works for you, it's probably the best way to not introduce too much change to the system. if you mean from a power consumption point of view, then there's minimal difference, if you believe manufacturers, standby uses less power than a nightlight. though probably slightly more than just the led that stays on...
